TakingITGlobal for Educators Launches Accredited Professional Development Program!

AALF's friends at TIGed are thrilled to announce the recent launch of its professional development program for educators. Registration is now open for two accredited e-courses designed to develop understandings of, and competencies in, technology-enabled global education.

The first e-course provides an introduction to the concept of global education and the pedagogical approaches, design strategies, and technological tools that can be harnessed to support integrating international issues and perspectives into the classroom. Building on this introduction, the second e-course delves into global project-based learning, investigating how to create student-driven, collaborative learning experiences that meet specific educational standards while empowering students to think and act as global citizens. The first e-course runs early February to early March and the second from late March to early May 2011.

Both e-courses have been accredited by the College of Graduate Studies at Plymouth State University (PSU) in New Hampshire, USA. After successfully completing an e-course, participants who wish to receive credit for their participation will be eligible to receive one graduate credit.

For more detailed information about the e-courses, please visit http://pd.tiged.org/. If you know of teachers who may be interested in these professional development opportunities, please spread the word!
