New page

The Origin Of M-16 Assault Rifle

Americans initially fought the AK47 machine guns in the early 1960?s battle in Vietnam. The period the M16 was released by the Us army was also the time when they had began to participate in the Southeast Asia conflict. The M16 firearm was made by Eugene Stoner in the 50's and finally it was built by Colt firearms company. It applied the state-of-the-art plastics and alloys during that time. Engineers and manufacturers were amazed by the gun but the infantrymen were uncertain of its functionality. The soldiers assumed that the gun cannot perform the job.

They did not like its modest 5.56 mm cartridge as it appeared inadequate to produce any injury. Researches were done in order to make the soldiers believe in the capabilities of the new firearm. M16 has as much capability to induce injury as a weapon which has a heavy bullet because it has a compact bullet that moves very speedy.

The first batches of M16 rifles were shipped to Vietnam but there were no clean-up packages and manuals. The soldiers were unaware that the weapons must be cleaned often and they only discovered that it was needed when they suffered the consequence in the fight. The design of the rifle was adjusted to be sure that the weapons wouldn't jam easily. The rifle must also be cleaned so the soldiers were asked to do this on a regular basis. Over time, the M16 started to gain the respect of the soldiers.

The M16 machine guns are still being used by the new age group of troops today.

The M16 hasn't been replaced for nearly thirty years now. The advancement of the gun has achieved its highest level thus to continue even further is going to cost a large amount of funds and numerous studies as the course is still not known.

The present weapons are likewise in its phase of perfection thus it's extremely hard to drastically enhance it.

One could possibly assert another situation for the weapons of the future. There are guns development that uses laser lights and thermal scopes to generate more strikes. However, the new versions that are being tested are still unable to replace M16 firearms with respect to design. The quest for a weapon which is better has never ended since firearms came into existence. Due to the developments of technology, the firearms that were commended as best guns eventually became outdated. In every new capability there are also new implications.

The past illustrates that leaders should be lenient with innovations as resisting it could be expensive.
